Fake American Express India messages and links
Texts using American Express India speak of expiring points, fee waivers and foreign charges. See what to verify in your own account.
American Express India provides credit and charge cards, along with travel and rewards programmes, to Indian cardholders. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be American Express India in SMS, WhatsApp and email messages. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.
Lines used in fake American Express India messages
- Amex membership rewards points expiring, redeem through this page
- Annual fee waiver offered, confirm card details here
- Unusual overseas charge on your card, dispute at this link
- Your Amex card will be cancelled unless KYC is verified
How to verify it yourself
Rewards, fee waivers and disputes can all be seen in the card's own app or your online account opened from an address you type. Card issuers do not require a CVV or OTP to reverse a charge, because the dispute is raised from your side. A replacement card is delivered against identity proof and not an OTP read over the phone. Use the contact on the back of your card for anything you want to confirm.
Quick checklist
- Do not tap links or call numbers inside the message.
- Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
- Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
- If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.
How Safeavio helps

Check it before you tap or pay
Safeavio Sentinel is a made-in-India Android app: paste a message or link, or scan a QR code, and get a plain verdict with the reasons. It helps you spot a scam; it does not promise to stop every one.
