Fake American Express India calls and apps

Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be American Express India on phone calls, in apps and on WhatsApp. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.

How to verify it yourself

Rewards, fee waivers and disputes can all be seen in the card's own app or your online account opened from an address you type. Card issuers do not require a CVV or OTP to reverse a charge, because the dispute is raised from your side. A replacement card is delivered against identity proof and not an OTP read over the phone. Use the contact on the back of your card for anything you want to confirm.

Quick checklist

Do not tap links or call numbers inside the message.
Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.

Treat it as unverified. Hang up and contact American Express India through its official app or the number printed on your card, bill or official website. Never install an app or share an OTP because a caller asked.
