Courier and ATM Franchise Agency Scam
An offer to open an ATM, courier or delivery franchise with guaranteed monthly income takes registration and security fees, then goes silent. See how.
An advertisement or email invites you to install an ATM at your shop or take a courier or delivery franchise, with a monthly income of tens of thousands. A 'company' with a sharp website sends a form and asks for registration, agreement, security deposit and 'installation' fees. Months go by, no machine or stock arrives, and the officials stop picking up. Many victims have invested lakhs of their own savings or loans.
How the scam works
The scammer copies the logo and the language of a well-known company and sends an email that appears to come from its franchise department. A website with a form and a list of 'approved partners' backs it up. The offer is hard to resist: a small deposit, a share of every transaction or parcel, and a promise that the business runs by itself.
A series of payments follows. First a registration fee, then the agreement charge, security deposit, site inspection fee, 'RBI clearance' or 'stationery' costs. Every payment is followed by a receipt and a new reason for another. Pressure comes from a limited number of locations in the area and the claim that someone else is about to take the one near yours.
The payoff is the sum of these payments, which can reach several lakhs per victim. The victim eventually realises that no machine or parcels are coming, and the company's phone is switched off. The same website is reused under another name, and a new batch of applicants pays in the next city. Because victims often borrowed money, the damage includes debt as well as lost savings.
An example of what you may see
Example email (invented): 'Own an ATM at your shop and earn Rs 70,000 a month! No experience needed. Pay Rs 25,000 registration, Rs 2,00,000 security deposit (refundable) and Rs 30,000 installation. Only 3 locations left in your area. Send the registration payment today to book your site and receive your agreement.' A phone 'manager' calls after payment to ask for the next instalment and promises the machine in 30 days.
This example is written for illustration. Real messages change their wording, names and links all the time.

Safeavio's link check can look at the franchise website or form link you paste and warn about lookalike domains, and the scam check marks the guaranteed income and the stage-by-stage fees in an email you paste. It cannot judge whether a business plan is sound or the company is registered, so verify with the real company yourself. Treat any fee as a stop sign.

Questions people ask
Do ATM franchises pay a guaranteed income?
No business can promise a fixed income without work or risk. A genuine franchise offers written terms, shows its registration and does not ask for repeated 'clearance' fees. Check with the real company before you pay anything.
How can I check a franchise offer?
Go to the company's official website by typing the address, find its franchise contact, and ask whether the offer is genuine. Compare the email address and the bank account name with the company's records. A mismatch in either one is enough reason to stop and ask the company.
What if I paid a registration fee already?
Stop paying more. Collect all receipts and chats, report to 1930 and cybercrime.gov.in, and inform the real company. Do not pay anyone who offers to get your money back for a fee. Fresh payments usually only deepen the loss.
