Xiaomi India sells Mi and Redmi phones, televisions and smart home devices through its own store, partners and service centres. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be Xiaomi and Redmi India on phone calls, in apps and on WhatsApp. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.

How to verify it yourself

Exchange and warranty matters are handled through the company's official store, the Mi Home or Xiaomi support app and authorised service centres. Software updates for your phone arrive through the Settings menu, so a link or file saying it fixes a hack is suspicious. A giveaway you did not enter does not need courier charges. A refund never requires you to approve a payment request, so decline it and check with the seller where you bought.

Quick checklist

Do not tap links or call numbers inside the message.
Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.
