Fake FASTag (NHAI) messages and links
Fake FASTag texts about blacklisting, low balance recharge, toll cashback and KYC deactivation. See the lines and check your tag safely.
FASTag is the electronic toll payment sticker on vehicles, linked to a prepaid account, with NHAI supporting toll collection on national highways. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be FASTag (NHAI) in SMS, WhatsApp and email messages. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.
Lines used in fake FASTag (NHAI) messages
- Your FASTag is blacklisted, update KYC at this link to remove it
- FASTag balance is low, recharge through this page to avoid a double toll
- Cashback on your toll charges is available, enter your card to receive it
- Your FASTag will be deactivated tonight, confirm your vehicle details
How to verify it yourself
Look at the tag's status and balance in the app of the bank or provider that issued your FASTag, or the NHAI-supported FASTag app installed from the store. Recharge only there or by a method printed on your tag's welcome kit. A toll shortfall is shown in the account, not collected by a caller through a QR code. Buy a tag from a bank, an authorised point or an official app, and keep your RC and Aadhaar copies private.
Quick checklist
- Do not tap links or call numbers inside the message.
- Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
- Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
- If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.
How Safeavio helps

Check it before you tap or pay
Safeavio Sentinel is a made-in-India Android app: paste a message or link, or scan a QR code, and get a plain verdict with the reasons. It helps you spot a scam; it does not promise to stop every one.
