Is Sentinel Family the right edition?

Adults helping a child or parent

[02] The problem

Stay connected with clear sharing choices.

Family brings pairing, shared security summaries, a map, SOS and chat into the app and Personal portal. Location and phone-health sharing depend on the phone’s permissions and consent. A child’s paired phone has no separate account; an adult manages setup and an eligible key is still required.

  • Pair phones with an adult account
  • Choose location and health sharing separately
  • Review shared alerts and reach your family
  • Stop sharing when you choose
[03]How it works

What happens on your device

Family paths exist in the app and portal. New phone-tool summaries remain Not released pending release and real-phone checks.

  1. 01

    Set up the adult account

Open Family in the app or Personal portal. Use the supported invitation or phone-pairing flow.

  2. 02

    Pair the phone

Use the pairing code and an eligible key. A child’s phone joins without creating an account for the child.

  3. 03

    Choose what is shared

Location, phone health and other summaries have separate choices. Denied permission or revoked consent must remain unavailable.

  4. 04

    Keep in touch

Use family chat, SOS and the last shared location. A stopped app, no connection or missing permission can delay updates.

Family in the app and portal

  • Pairing and family membersLimited

Adult setup, paired phones and member management. Child phones do not need their own account or receive a free paid key.

  • Family tracker, SOS and safe placesLimited

Only the information the phone permits and shares. Last-seen time and unavailable location stay visible; there is no guarantee of immediate delivery.

  • Family chat and noticesLimited

Group and participant-only private chats. Messages are stored on the hub and are not end-to-end encrypted. A guardian cannot read a private chat they are not part of.

  • Shared security and health summariesLimited

Consented summary information rather than another app’s messages, files or browsing history.

module.new_phone_tools02

New phone tools

  • Consented family phone toolsNot released

A paired phone can share daily screen-time totals, new-app counts and risk reasons, and revoke sharing. Bedtime notices are reminders. App blocking, real time limits and YouTube supervision need platform tools such as Family Link.

  • One phone risk profileNot released

Combines supported findings into one score and clear reasons on Home and consented family summaries. Unavailable checks stay unknown; a low score is not a safety guarantee.

module.limits02

Limits

  • Phone-wide app blocking and YouTube supervisionComing

Not supplied by ordinary Sentinel setup. Real enforced time limits or supervision need Family Link or supported device-owner provisioning.

  • Family identity checksLimited

A shared password-check status is a chosen summary. Automated breach monitoring needs verified addresses, consent and a configured provider.

[06]Privacy and limits

What stays on your device, and what never happens

policy.denyenforced

Not exposed from another phone

  • Messages in other apps, photos and browsing history
  • Private family chats you are not a participant in
  • Location when the required sharing choices are off
policy.allowscoped

Shared when enabled

  • Last reported location and its age
  • Phone health and security summaries
  • Family chat messages you send and SOS notices

Each sharing choice has its own scope. Pairing is not blanket permission to read or control the phone.

Edition ceiling: Sentinel Family may never

  • Read another device's content without per-device consent

A product boundary, not a setting. No flag, plan upgrade or API call can raise it.

[09]FAQ

Questions about Sentinel Family

Q01Does a child need an account?

No. A child’s phone joins through the adult’s pairing flow. Eligible paid-key requirements still apply.

Q02Can I read another person’s messages?

No. Family does not read messages from other apps. You only see family chats you participate in and summaries shared with you.

Q03Is this full parental control?

No. Shared totals and bedtime reminders do not enforce app blocking, time limits or YouTube supervision across the phone.

Q04Is family chat end-to-end encrypted?

No. It is stored on the hub. A guardian does not receive other people’s private chats.
