Chakshu
Chakshu is the facility on the Sanchar Saathi portal to report suspected fraud calls, SMS and WhatsApp messages to the telecom department.
Chakshu: Chakshu is a reporting facility on the Sanchar Saathi portal of the Department of Telecommunications. You use it to report suspected fraud communication, such as a call, SMS or WhatsApp message that asks for KYC updates, OTPs or payments, so action can be considered on the number.
You do not need to be a victim to use it. If a call or message looks like a fraud attempt, you can report the number, the date and a short description of what was said. Reports help the department see patterns, such as one number used for many people, and decide whether to act on the connection. A short, clear description of what the caller said is enough for the report.
It does not refund money, and it is not for urgent loss. If you already paid, call 1930 and file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in first. Use Chakshu afterwards or for attempts where you lost nothing. Go to the official portal by typing the address yourself, and keep a screenshot of the message or call log before you report. Keep your own copy of the details in case your bank or the police later ask.
Tips
- Take a screenshot of the message or call log before you report it.
- If money was lost, call 1930 first and use Chakshu afterwards.
- Report suspicious numbers even when you did nothing, so that others are protected.
