Fake Zomato calls and apps
Callers using Zomato's name ask for screen sharing, delivery OTPs, dialled codes and restaurant listing fees. See the checks.
Zomato is an Indian app for ordering restaurant food, finding restaurants, reviewing them and booking tables for dining out. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be Zomato on phone calls, in apps and on WhatsApp. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.
Lines used in fake Zomato calls and apps
- Caller says your food was cold and a refund can only be sent after a screen share
- Person posing as a delivery rider demands an OTP before dropping the bag
- Fake restaurant partner team asks owners for a listing fee
- Caller asks you to dial a code on your phone to receive the refund
How to verify it yourself
Check order status, refund and Gold membership inside the Zomato app. Refunds go back to the original source and an order issue is raised from the order page, not from a request to share your screen or dial a code. Review tasks that pay per review and require a deposit first are a common trick. Restaurant owners should use the company's partner portal reached by hand-typing its address. Delivery codes belong only to real deliveries you ordered.
Quick checklist
- Do not tap links or call numbers inside the message.
- Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
- Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
- If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.

A caller says they are from Zomato. Is it real?
Treat it as unverified. Hang up and contact Zomato through its official app or the number printed on your card, bill or official website. Never install an app or share an OTP because a caller asked.
Can Zomato ask me to install an app on a call?
Be very careful. Scammers use screen-sharing and fake apps to watch your screen and read OTPs. Install apps only from the official store listing that you find yourself, never from a link or a caller.
