Callers using Zepto's name ask for card details, screen sharing, uniform deposits and coupon unlock fees. See how to verify.
Zepto is a quick-commerce app that delivers groceries, snacks and household items to city homes in a few minutes from local dark stores. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be Zepto on phone calls, in apps and on WhatsApp. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.
Lines used in fake Zepto calls and apps
- Caller says an item was damaged and sends a link to claim a refund via card details
- Person asks job seekers for a uniform and bag deposit for riding with Zepto
- Fake support agent asks for a screen-share to check your coupon
- Caller says your coupon will expire unless you pay a small unlocking amount
How to verify it yourself
Zepto orders, missing-item claims and refunds are managed inside its app, in the order details, and money goes back to your payment source. Delivery code belongs to your own order and is for the rider who arrives with it. If you are applying for rider work, apply through the official channels listed on the company's website you type yourself, and do not pay a deposit for a bag or uniform. Coupons are applied in the cart, and do not need payments to unlock.

- Do not tap links or call numbers inside the message.
- Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
- Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
- If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.

Treat it as unverified. Hang up and contact Zepto through its official app or the number printed on your card, bill or official website. Never install an app or share an OTP because a caller asked.
Can Zepto ask me to install an app on a call?
Be very careful. Scammers use screen-sharing and fake apps to watch your screen and read OTPs. Install apps only from the official store listing that you find yourself, never from a link or a caller.
