Fake Vi (Vodafone Idea) messages and links
Fake Vi texts about number suspension, reward points, cheap unlimited plans and bill refunds. See the lines and check in the Vi app.
Vi, formerly Vodafone and Idea, is an Indian mobile network operator with prepaid and postpaid plans and the Vi app. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be Vi (Vodafone Idea) in SMS, WhatsApp and email messages. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.
Lines used in fake Vi (Vodafone Idea) messages
- Your Vi number will be suspended, update your Aadhaar through this link
- Vi reward points expire today, redeem for cash
- Plan upgrade to unlimited data at Rs 9, confirm with your card
- Postpaid bill excess charge refund of Rs 1,200 is ready
How to verify it yourself
The Vi app lists your plan, bill, reward points and any pending request on your number. A port-out request is confirmed by a code sent to the SIM owner and by a form at the new operator, so be careful with a stranger asking you to share it. Type the official website yourself rather than using a text link. Use the helpline printed on your bill or in the app for support, not a number that someone sends you.
Quick checklist
- Do not tap links or call numbers inside the message.
- Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
- Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
- If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.
How Safeavio helps
Paste the message or the link into Safeavio Sentinel (or share it to the app) and it shows a plain verdict with the reasons: urgency, a money demand, a lookalike address or an OTP request. It checks the text you give it and cannot promise to catch every scam.
Check it before you tap or pay
Safeavio Sentinel is a made-in-India Android app: paste a message or link, or scan a QR code, and get a plain verdict with the reasons. It helps you spot a scam; it does not promise to stop every one.
