Fake State Bank of India calls and apps

Fake YONO SBI apps, 'head office' callers and loan-fee offers using the SBI name. Learn the usual script and the safe way to confirm.

India's largest public-sector bank, used for salary and savings accounts, YONO banking, UPI, home and car loans, and fixed deposits. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be State Bank of India on phone calls, in apps and on WhatsApp. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.

How to verify it yourself

Open the YONO SBI app that you installed from the official store, or type the bank's website address by hand, and look for any alert there. For a card or account problem, use the number printed on your passbook or the back of your debit card. Branch staff do not ask for your OTP, PIN, CVV or net banking password in any call, SMS or chat. If you already shared something, ring 1930 at once and tell your branch.

Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.

Treat it as unverified. Hang up and contact State Bank of India through its official app or the number printed on your card, bill or official website. Never install an app or share an OTP because a caller asked.

Can State Bank of India ask me to install an app on a call?

Be very careful. Scammers use screen-sharing and fake apps to watch your screen and read OTPs. Install apps only from the official store listing that you find yourself, never from a link or a caller.
