Fake HDFC ERGO General Insurance messages and links

Texts using the HDFC ERGO name warn of expired motor cover, surveyor fees and travel refunds. See the pattern and how to verify your policy.

A general insurer covering cars, bikes, health, travel and home, with motor renewals and claims handled through its app and garages. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be HDFC ERGO General Insurance in SMS, WhatsApp and email messages. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.

How to verify it yourself

For vehicle policies, the policy number and validity can be confirmed in the official HDFC ERGO app or on the website you type by hand. Claims are assigned through the app and an authorised garage, so any surveyor fee requested in cash or UPI deserves a pause. Use the helpline number printed on your policy schedule or the one on the insurer's official app, not one in a message. Renewal payment should go to the insurer's own payment page only.

How Safeavio helps

Paste the message or the link into Safeavio Sentinel (or share it to the app) and it shows a plain verdict with the reasons: urgency, a money demand, a lookalike address or an OTP request. It checks the text you give it and cannot promise to catch every scam.

Check it before you tap or pay

Safeavio Sentinel is a made-in-India Android app: paste a message or link, or scan a QR code, and get a plain verdict with the reasons. It helps you spot a scam; it does not promise to stop every one.
