Fake Loan Recovery Agent Scam through an app

How it looks through an app, the red flags and what to do.

Scam apps pretend to be a bank, a loan service, a game, a government service or a "support tool", and they ask for access to SMS, contacts, the screen or accessibility. Fake Loan Recovery Agent Scam is one of the ways this shows up: Callers threaten to shame you or message your contacts unless you pay a loan, sometimes one you never took. Some are scammers with no real claim.

What fake loan recovery agent scam looks like through an app

The scammer or an unregulated lending app gets your phone number and sometimes your contacts, usually from an app that asked for access or from a leaked list. They send messages saying that you owe money, even if the loan was small or never taken, and add penalties that grow each day. A threatening tone and a countdown push you to react.
