Business Loan Subsidy and Mudra Agent Scam by SMS
How it looks by SMS, the red flags and what to do.
SMS scams lean on short, urgent lines and a shortened link. The message looks official because the sender name (header) is shaped to resemble a real organisation. Business Loan Subsidy and Mudra Agent Scam is one of the ways this shows up: An agent promises a business loan or subsidy under a government scheme and takes a fee or margin money first. See how small entrepreneurs are cheated.
What business loan subsidy and mudra agent scam looks like by SMS
- A request to call a number, install an app or share an OTP.
- Several near-identical messages arriving together from different senders.
- A sender name that resembles a bank, courier, tax or utility, or an ordinary mobile number.
The agent advertises on social media and in local groups with the name of a real scheme. He asks for the business plan, Aadhaar, PAN and bank statements, and says the bank will approve quickly through his contact. A professional-looking sanction letter with a number and a stamp may be shown, so the applicant believes the loan is already approved.
Red flags to check on the text message
- A loan sanctioned before any bank visit or verification.
- A fee or margin money requested by an agent to a personal account.
- A sanction letter with no branch, officer name or contact.
- A deadline linked to an officer's transfer or a scheme quota.
- It threatens blocking, arrest, disconnection or a fine unless you act at once.
- It promises a refund, prize or cashback you never asked for.
What to do
- Visit the bank branch or use the official scheme portal to apply yourself.
- Do not pay any fee to an agent. Bank charges, if any, are deducted by the bank itself.
- Ask for the officer's name and verify the sanction at the branch.
- Open the official app or type the official website yourself to see if there is any real notice.
- Paste the text into a scam checker (Safeavio Sentinel can check it) before you do anything else.
- Report the sender on the Sanchar Saathi portal (Chakshu facility) and block the number.

Safeavio's scam check can read an agent's message and mark the fee-first and the transfer-deadline pressure, and Money Shield offers a checklist and a family code word to pause before a payment. The link check can warn about a lookalike scheme portal. It cannot tell if a loan is sanctioned, which only the bank can confirm at its own branch.
