WhatsApp group invite scam
WhatsApp group invite scam adds you to a group of fake traders or job seekers who push you to invest or do paid tasks.
WhatsApp group invite scam: In this scam, a stranger adds you to a WhatsApp group or sends an invite link. The group looks busy with members praising profits, stock tips or part-time jobs. The aim is to make you trust the scheme, then pay money into a fake platform.
The group may be named after a famous broker, a stock tips club or a job portal. Several members post screenshots of gains and thank an admin. Most are controlled by the scammers or are bots. Soon the admin sends you a link to an app or site and asks you to put in a small amount first, which seems to grow.
When you try to withdraw, new fees, taxes or a larger deposit appear. Leave the group, do not click its links, and do not install apps from it. In WhatsApp privacy settings, you can limit who can add you to groups to your contacts. Report the group and the admin from inside the app. Talk to someone in your family before you put in any money, even a small test amount.
Tips
- Set WhatsApp group privacy to "My contacts" so strangers cannot add you.
- Leave, report and block groups that talk about guaranteed profits.
- Do not install any trading or task app shared in a group.
