Video KYC
Video KYC is an identity check done over a live video call with a bank or broker official, started only from the company's own app or site.
Video KYC: Video KYC is a way to prove your identity remotely. You join a live video call with an official of a bank, broker or insurer, show your original ID such as PAN, and answer a few questions. The call is started from the company's own app or website.
Video KYC saves a trip to a branch. You usually need good light, a stable network and your original documents. The official may ask you to hold your PAN card near the camera, show your face, and confirm some details. The session is recorded by the company under rules for regulated entities. Always check the web address or app name before the call begins.
Scammers copy the idea. A fake agent sends a link, calls it "video KYC", and makes you show cards, read out OTPs or share your screen. Some use it to record your face for later misuse. Start video KYC only from an app or website you opened yourself, and never show card numbers, PINs or OTPs on camera. A real official will never ask for these.
Tips
- Begin video KYC only from the official app or website you opened yourself.
- Show only your ID document; keep cards, PINs and OTPs out of the frame.
- End the call if the person asks you to install a screen-sharing app.
