Fake KFin Technologies (KFintech) messages and links
Fake KFintech messages talk of held dividends, share transfers and inactive investor ids. See why they do not match the process.
KFin Technologies, known as KFintech, is an Indian registrar and transfer agent for mutual funds and listed companies. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be KFin Technologies (KFintech) in SMS, WhatsApp and email messages. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.
Lines used in fake KFin Technologies (KFintech) messages
- KFintech shows dividends held for you, pay tax to release them
- Share transfer pending, upload your demat details at this link
- Your investor id is inactive, activate with this page
- Unclaimed IPO refund found, confirm bank account to receive
How to verify it yourself
Company registrars can confirm shareholder records, but any real dividend is paid to the bank account already on record and not after a tax payment to a caller. Look at your demat statement for the shares you hold, and use the official registrar or company website typed by hand for requests. Your DP id and client id should not be given to someone who phones you. IPO refunds return to the same bank account automatically when an application is not allotted.
Quick checklist
- Do not tap links or call numbers inside the message.
- Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
- Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
- If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.
