A merchant-focused payments company whose shop QR codes and soundbox devices let small businesses accept UPI, with business loans for sellers. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be BharatPe on phone calls, in apps and on WhatsApp. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.
Lines used in fake BharatPe calls and apps
- A caller posing as a BharatPe field executive says your soundbox needs a payment approval to update
- A person offers to swap your QR sticker and replaces it with a different code at your counter
- A voice claims your settlement is stopped and asks for the OTP on your phone
- A caller sends a loan form and says a small stamp duty must be paid first
How to verify it yourself
Shopkeepers can check settlements, QR details and loan offers in the official BharatPe for Business app, so look there before taking any action. A genuine visit from the company's staff should be confirmed with the app's support option before you hand over any device. A QR sticker on your counter is where customers pay you, so keep an eye on it for tampering. A loan does not need a deposit to a personal account, and a soundbox does not need a payment approval.
Quick checklist
- Do not tap links or call numbers inside the message.
- Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
- Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
- If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.

Treat it as unverified. Hang up and contact BharatPe through its official app or the number printed on your card, bill or official website. Never install an app or share an OTP because a caller asked.
Can BharatPe ask me to install an app on a call?
Be very careful. Scammers use screen-sharing and fake apps to watch your screen and read OTPs. Install apps only from the official store listing that you find yourself, never from a link or a caller.
