Fake Airtel Thanks calls and apps
Calls claiming SIM misuse, SIM upgrades or network repair in the Airtel Thanks name, and how to confirm in the app or at a store.
Airtel's customer app for recharges, bill payments, data usage, plan changes and a payments bank wallet and UPI for Airtel users. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be Airtel Thanks on phone calls, in apps and on WhatsApp. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.
Lines used in fake Airtel Thanks calls and apps
- A caller says your Airtel number is linked to illegal activity and asks you to verify details on a video call
- A person offers a free SIM upgrade and asks you to forward a code that arrives on your phone
- A voice claims to be an Airtel technician and asks you to install a support app to fix network issues
- A caller says your payments bank wallet is closing and asks you to move the money elsewhere
How to verify it yourself
Plan details, bills and SIM status appear inside the Airtel Thanks app or on the website that you type yourself, so open them before replying to a threat of disconnection. A SIM upgrade or swap is done at an Airtel store with your identity papers, and a code that arrives on your phone should never be forwarded since it can transfer your number. A call alleging illegal activity is a pressure tactic. Report such calls on the Sanchar Saathi portal or 1930.
Quick checklist
- Do not tap links or call numbers inside the message.
- Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
- Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
- If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.
How Safeavio helps
Safeavio Sentinel's phone scan lists apps outside a store, risky permissions and settings such as unknown sources, and the Money Shield checklist slows you down before you send money. It cannot stop a call, but it helps you spot a fake app afterwards.
Check it before you tap or pay
Safeavio Sentinel is a made-in-India Android app: paste a message or link, or scan a QR code, and get a plain verdict with the reasons. It helps you spot a scam; it does not promise to stop every one.

Questions
A caller says they are from Airtel Thanks. Is it real?
Treat it as unverified. Hang up and contact Airtel Thanks through its official app or the number printed on your card, bill or official website. Never install an app or share an OTP because a caller asked.
Can Airtel Thanks ask me to install an app on a call?
Be very careful. Scammers use screen-sharing and fake apps to watch your screen and read OTPs. Install apps only from the official store listing that you find yourself, never from a link or a caller.
