Part-Time Like and Rate Task Job Scam by SMS

How it looks by SMS, the red flags and what to do.

SMS scams lean on short, urgent lines and a shortened link. The message looks official because the sender name (header) is shaped to resemble a real organisation. Part-Time Like and Rate Task Job Scam is one of the ways this shows up: A WhatsApp message offers Rs 500 to Rs 5,000 a day for liking videos or rating products. The first small payouts are bait before larger deposits.

What part-time like and rate task job scam looks like by SMS

• A shortened or oddly spelled link that does not match the real website.
• A request to call a number, install an app or share an OTP.
• Several near-identical messages arriving together from different senders.

The scammer sends a mass message, often copied from a recruiter style template, saying that a company needs people to boost views. A 'manager' adds you to a chat and shows screenshots of other people receiving money. You are given your first tasks: follow a channel, like a video, send a screenshot. The small payment arrives promptly by UPI, and it feels like proof the job is real.

Red flags to check on the text message

• A stranger offers easy daily income for liking or rating.
• The first tiny payment arrives instantly.
• You are asked to deposit money to unlock bigger tasks.
• Group members post screenshots of payouts.
• It promises a refund, prize or cashback you never asked for.
• It tells you to install an app from a link instead of the official store.

What to do

1. Stop doing tasks and do not deposit anything.
2. Do not click any further links or add anyone to the group.
3. Take screenshots of the chat, the page and every payment.
4. Open the official app or type the official website yourself to see if there is any real notice.
5. Paste the text into a scam checker (Safeavio Sentinel can check it) before you do anything else.
6. Report the sender on the Sanchar Saathi portal (Chakshu facility) and block the number.

If money or a code is already gone

1. Call 1930 right away and give all payee accounts and amounts.
2. Tell your bank through the number on your card so it can try to hold transfers.
3. File a complaint on cybercrime.gov.in with chats, payment proofs and the page address.
4. Do not pay any unfreezing or tax fee to get the money back.
