Farmer Loan Waiver and Subsidy Agent Scam by SMS
How it looks by SMS, the red flags and what to do.
SMS scams lean on short, urgent lines and a shortened link. The message looks official because the sender name (header) is shaped to resemble a real organisation. Farmer Loan Waiver and Subsidy Agent Scam is one of the ways this shows up: A village agent says your name is on a loan waiver or subsidy list and asks for a fee. Learn how the fee trick works and how to check a scheme safely.
What farmer loan waiver and subsidy agent scam looks like by SMS
- Several near-identical messages arriving together from different senders.
- A sender name that resembles a bank, courier, tax or utility, or an ordinary mobile number.
- A very short message with a deadline such as "today" or "within 24 hours".
The agent chooses a real, recent announcement and says he has contacts in the bank or department. He collects documents door to door or on WhatsApp and shows an official-looking printout with a list of names, often a copy of a public list with your name typed in. Villagers with small holdings and pending bank dues are chosen first, since they hope most for relief.

- A private person asks a fee to put your name on a government list.
- Payment must go to a personal UPI ID or in cash.
- He asks for Aadhaar, passbook and signature photos before showing any official notice.
- The deadline is 'tonight' and cannot be checked anywhere.
- The link domain is not the one you type yourself for that organisation.
- The message asks for an OTP, PIN, card number or password.
What to do
- Do not pay or send any document until you have checked at your own bank branch.
- Ask the branch manager whether any waiver or subsidy applies to your account.
- For subsidies, use the official department office or its website typed by hand.
- Report the sender on the Sanchar Saathi portal (Chakshu facility) and block the number.
- Delete the message and tell family members who may get the same text.
- Do not reply, do not tap the link and do not call the number in the message.

Safeavio's scam check reads the message you paste and points to the fee demand and the invented deadline, and Money Shield gives you a short 'verify before you pay' checklist to run before any UPI transfer. It cannot confirm whether a particular scheme is real and it cannot reverse a payment. The reliable check is always your own bank branch or the official department office.
