UPI PIN

UPI PIN is the secret 4 or 6 digit number that approves a UPI payment from your account. Share it with no one, ever, for any reason.

UPI PIN: A UPI PIN is a private number you set when you link your bank account to a UPI app. It works like an ATM PIN. You enter it only when money is leaving your account. Nobody, including bank staff, ever needs it from you.

Many UPI frauds are really PIN frauds. A stranger sends a collect request, a fake refund link or a QR code and says, "Enter your PIN to receive the money." That is false. Receiving money never asks for a PIN, because you are not approving anything. The PIN screen always means money is about to go out. If a person pressures you to share it quickly, that pressure itself is the warning sign.

Choose a PIN that is not your birth year, phone number or 1234. Do not use the same digits as your phone lock or ATM PIN. If you ever typed the PIN into a link, call or shared screen, change it at once from the app and tell your bank using the number on your card or in its official app.
