Loan app permissions
Loan app permissions are the contacts, photos and SMS access that predatory loan apps ask for, then use to shame and threaten borrowers.
Loan app permissions: Loan app permissions are the access rights a lending app requests on your phone, such as contacts, photos, location or SMS. Predatory apps use them to collect your data and then harass you and your contacts if you are late with repayment.
A quick-loan app offers money in minutes, with no paperwork. To install it, you allow access to your contacts and gallery. Later, the lender sends abusive messages, or edits your photo and sends it to everyone in your phonebook with false claims. Interest and fees can be far higher than the amount first shown. Even after you repay, the data they copied stays with them, so the best protection is refusing access at the start.
Check before you borrow whether the lender is a bank or a registered non-bank lender, using the regulator's official list. Do not give contacts, gallery or SMS access to a lending app. If you are already caught, uninstall the app, review your permissions, tell contacts calmly what is happening, and report the harassment. The Safeavio phone scan and app permissions review can show which apps hold such access.
Tips
- Borrow only from lenders you can verify as registered on the official regulator list.
- Deny contacts, photos and SMS access to any lending app.
- Report harassment by loan apps on cybercrime.gov.in and keep screenshots.
