Fake customer care number
Fake customer care number is a helpline number found in a search result or map listing that connects you to a scammer, not the real company.
Fake customer care number: A fake customer care number is a phone number presented as the helpline of a bank, wallet, courier or shop, but owned by a scammer. People find it through search results, map listings, social media posts or ads, and call it when they have a problem.
You have a payment stuck, so you search for the company's helpline. A result at the top shows a number. The person on the line sounds helpful and asks for your card details, an OTP or to install an app to "fix" the problem. Scammers pay for ads, edit map listings or post fake numbers in comments so that desperate people find them first.
Get support numbers only from the official app, the card or passbook, a bill, or the official website that you typed yourself. When you must search, do not trust the first result blindly. Whoever you reach, never share your PIN, OTP, CVV or password, and never install an app they suggest. Real support does not ask for those. Take a moment to confirm the source of any number before you call it, especially when stressed.
Tips
- Use only the number printed on your card, passbook or bill, or inside the official app.
- Do not trust numbers in search ads, map edits or social media comments.
- Never install an app or dial a code suggested by a support caller.
