App Lock

App Lock adds a separate PIN or biometric check to chosen apps, such as WhatsApp or UPI, so a person holding your unlocked phone cannot open them.

App Lock: App Lock is a feature that puts a second lock on selected apps. Even if someone opens your phone, or you hand it to a child or friend, they need another PIN or fingerprint to open apps such as chats, gallery, banking or payments.

People lend phones to children, relatives and shop staff for a call or a game. Without App Lock, they can open your UPI app, chats and photos. A snooper who sees your screen lock can walk through everything. A second lock keeps private apps separate from the general phone use. It is a useful second step for shared family phones, where each person should keep their own chats and money apps private.

App Lock is not a defence against malware or a determined attacker, since it works only if the phone's own system is honest. Choose a PIN that differs from your screen lock, and lock only the apps that matter. Check that it covers the apps you actually worry about. It also helps if you leave the phone on a desk at work or college.

Tips

• Lock your payment apps, chats and gallery, and keep a different PIN from your phone lock.
• Do not tell the App Lock PIN to children or friends.
• Enable it before lending your phone, not after something goes wrong.
