Fake Groww messages and links
Texts using the Groww name talk about failed SIPs, guaranteed IPO allotments and KYC rejections. Learn what is false and how to check the app.
An investing app where people open a demat account, trade stocks, buy mutual fund SIPs, apply for IPOs and invest in gold and other products. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be Groww in SMS, WhatsApp and email messages. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.
Lines used in fake Groww messages
- Groww SIP failed three times, update your bank mandate by tapping here
- Groww IPO allotment guaranteed for you, pay the application fee to this UPI ID
- Groww KYC rejected, re-upload your PAN and a selfie to keep investing
- Groww referral bonus of free stock is waiting, claim it by entering your PIN
How to verify it yourself
Look at your SIPs, holdings and KYC status inside the official Groww app, or on the website you type yourself. Mandates for SIPs are set with your own bank, so a changed mandate will show up in both places. IPO applications are made through the app with the amount blocked in your own bank account, and no allotment can be bought. Contact support through the help section of the app. Do not move money to a name given by a chat admin.
Quick checklist
- Do not tap links or call numbers inside the message.
- Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
- Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
- If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.

Check it before you tap or pay
Safeavio Sentinel is a made-in-India Android app: paste a message or link, or scan a QR code, and get a plain verdict with the reasons. It helps you spot a scam; it does not promise to stop every one.

Questions
How can I tell if a Groww message is real?
Do not judge by the sender name or the logo; both can be copied. Open the official Groww app or type its website yourself and look for the same notice. Groww will not ask for your OTP, PIN or password in a message.
What should I do if I tapped a link in a fake Groww message?
Close the page without typing anything. If you entered details, change the password at once from the official app, call your bank or provider using the number on your card or bill, and report at cybercrime.gov.in. If money moved, call 1930.
