Fake BSE Investor Services messages and links
Fake BSE messages mention pre-listing shares, flagged demat accounts and unclaimed shares. See the checks before you pay.
BSE, formerly the Bombay Stock Exchange, is an Indian stock exchange that also offers investor education and complaint channels. Because many people use it, scammers pretend to be BSE Investor Services in SMS, WhatsApp and email messages. This page lists the lies they usually tell and how to check before you act.
Lines used in fake BSE Investor Services messages
- BSE pre-listing shares available only to you, book now
- Your demat is flagged by BSE, pay clearance to avoid closure
- BSE unclaimed shares found in your name, pay to release
- Institutional-grade stock group backed by BSE, join today
How to verify it yourself
An exchange does not contact individuals about pre-listing shares or flagged demat accounts. Your holdings are visible in the statements from your depository participant and in your broker's app. Pre-listing deals are not routed to strangers on chat, and certificates sent as pictures are easy to forge. Check any adviser or broker on the regulator's website. Pay nothing to unlock shares that you cannot see in your own account.
Quick checklist
- Do not tap links or call numbers inside the message.
- Open the official app, or type the official website yourself, and look for the same notice.
- Never share an OTP, PIN, CVV or password with anyone, including "staff".
- If money moved, call 1930 and your bank at once.
