How it looks over the phone, the red flags and what to do.

A phone call lets the scammer talk fast, sound confident and keep you from thinking. The caller ID can be faked, so it proves nothing. MLM Network Marketing Recruitment Scam is one of the ways this shows up: A pitch promises big income from a joining kit and from recruiting others. Income comes mostly from new members' fees, not product sales.

What mlm network marketing recruitment scam looks like over the phone

The recruiter uses personal trust, often the strongest tool in this scam. You are invited to a meeting or a webinar where speakers show luxury lifestyles and income charts. The product, such as supplements or an app membership, plays a minor role in the talk. Most of the time is spent on levels, bonuses and how many people you can bring.

Red flags to check on the phone call

What to do

  1. Ask how much a member earns from selling products to real customers alone.
  2. Do not pay a joining fee under pressure at a meeting.
  3. Ask for written income disclosure and refund terms.
  4. Hang up. A real bank or office will not mind that you call them back.
  5. Call the bank or office on the number printed on your card, bill or official app, not on a number the caller gave.
  6. Never share an OTP or PIN. No genuine staff member needs it.

Report the number on the Sanchar Saathi portal (Chakshu facility). If money moved, call 1930 immediately.

If money or a code is already gone

  1. Keep receipts, contracts and messages.
  2. Ask in writing for a refund under any stated terms.
  3. Call 1930 if you paid online and suspect fraud, giving payee details.
  4. File a complaint with the local police or on cybercrime.gov.in if refunds are refused.

National Cyber Crime Helpline: 1930; report at cybercrime.gov.in.

Safeavio Sentinel's scam check reads a pitch you paste from chat and highlights signals such as income from recruits, a large joining pack and pressure to recruit family. Money Shield asks who you are paying and whether you can verify them independently. It cannot judge a company's business model or recover fees, so ask for documents and check official sources before paying.
