Instant Loan Processing Fee Scam by SMS
How it looks by SMS, the red flags and what to do.
On SMS the scammer has only a few lines to work with, so they use a deadline, a threat or a prize and a link that must be tapped "now". Instant Loan Processing Fee Scam is one of the ways this shows up: A lender promises a quick loan with no paperwork, then asks for processing fees, insurance and taxes before sending money that never arrives.
What instant loan processing fee scam looks like by SMS
- A shortened or oddly spelled link that does not match the real website.
- A request to call a number, install an app or share an OTP.
- Several near-identical messages arriving together from different senders.
The scammer advertises in social media feeds, messaging groups and bulk texts, saying that anyone can get a loan fast. People under money stress respond, and the scammer asks for a photo ID, a selfie and bank details through a chat or a form. They quickly send an approval letter that looks real, with a logo, a loan amount and a repayment plan.
