What gaming id and top-up sale scam looks like on WhatsApp
- A group invite promising returns, jobs or prizes.
- A PDF, APK or image that must be opened to "see the details".
- A link that pretends to be a wa.me, courier or bank page.
The scammer advertises on gaming channels and videos with offers like 'double diamonds' or 'free skins' at a very low price. To top up, he asks for the player's login through a social account or a 'player ID and password'. Some send a link that looks like the game's top-up page and asks for card or UPI details.
Red flags to check on the WhatsApp message
- A top-up price far below the official store.
- A request for your game password or social login.
- A top-up link that does not belong to the game's own store.
- An ID sale with an advance and no escrow or official transfer.
- The sender moves you quickly to Telegram or to a second app.
- A file ending in .apk arrives; never install it.
What to do
- Top up only inside the game or on its official site, typed by hand.
- Never share your game password, social login or OTP with a seller.
- Remove saved cards and use parental controls on a child's phone.
- Open the chat, tap the contact name and choose Block and report.
- If it was a "friend", call them on the number you already have and ask.
- Turn on two-step verification in WhatsApp settings so a stolen SMS code is not enough.
Inside WhatsApp use Block and report; for numbers that call or text you, the Sanchar Saathi portal (Chakshu facility) also takes complaints.

Safeavio's link check can look at a top-up page before you open it and warn about lookalike or shortened addresses, and the scam check can mark the cheap-price and advance pattern in a seller's chat. The password-exposure check can show whether a password has appeared in known leaks. It cannot recover a lost account, which has to go through the game's official support.
