AI Chatbot Fake Profile That Chats for Weeks

A friendly profile replies instantly at all hours, with perfect grammar, and slowly steers you to money. It may be an AI bot run by scammers.

You start chatting with a warm, attentive profile who answers within seconds, day and night, with polished sentences and endless interest in your day. After weeks, she mentions a financial problem or an investment. What feels like a rare connection may be an AI chatbot, supervised by a scammer who handles hundreds of conversations at once. The warmth is generated, and the end goal is the same old request for money.

How the scam works

The scammer uses language software to power chats, with a persona prompt such as a lonely nurse or a young entrepreneur. The bot remembers details, mirrors your mood and sends pre-made photos. Because software does not tire, it can run hundreds of long conversations. A human steps in only when money is to be discussed, or when the bot is asked an awkward question such as a live video call.

The pressure builds through intimacy. The bot sends good-morning notes, asks about your meals, shares small 'confessions' and celebrates your achievements. When the bond is strong, it introduces a problem: a bill, a visa fee, a failed payment or a golden investment chance. Because the conversation feels deeply personal, you may not notice that the replies are strangely generic when you ask specific questions about the persona's city or workplace.

The payoff is money, sometimes in small, repeated amounts, and personal information that can be used later. The profile may also try to move you to a different app, where payments are easier to collect and harder to trace. If you push for a live meeting, excuses begin. When you stop sending money, the replies become cold or stop, and the same bot is soon chatting with someone else.

An example of what you may see

Example chat (invented): 'Good morning, my dear! I was thinking about you all night. You are the only person who understands me. I am embarrassed to say this, but my visa payment bounced and I need Rs 20,000 today or I lose my job. Could you help me just this once? I will repay you when we meet.' When you ask for a video call: 'My camera is broken, but I will send a voice note soon.'

This example is written for illustration. Real messages change their wording, names and links all the time.

Questions people ask

Can scammers really use AI to chat with victims?

Software can hold natural conversations, so scam operators can run many chats at once. A human may join later when money is discussed. You cannot judge a profile by how fluent or caring it sounds.

How can I tell if I am chatting with a bot?

Ask for a live video call, a spontaneous voice note and a check of a local detail. Bots and scammers avoid these. Also notice if answers repeat patterns or ignore odd questions. Ask something specific like the name of a lane near their home, and see if the answer is vague or inconsistent.

What if I have already formed a bond?

Feelings are real even when the profile is not. Talk to a trusted person, stop sending money and report. You are not foolish; these systems are designed to build trust. Feeling embarrassed is normal, but telling a friend can break the spell and protect others as well.
